The route starts from the church of Agia Paraskevi in Ano Milia. Take the adjacent asphalt road for about 200 meters, and you'll see wooden signs on your left that lead you to the Path of Love (a beautiful path with wooden bridges, springs, and picnic areas). At the end of the path, from the "Fournos" position, ascend to the left of the stream and you will come out onto a dirt road that comes from Ano Milia. Turn left and follow it; it leads you to the monument of the victims of the air tragedy of December 1997. Continue past the first Yakovlev monument, which leads us to the second Yakovlev monument.
For the return, we could go back to the first monument we encountered and continue on the dirt road to the left until we find the path that ascends from Ano Milia to 5 Towers, which is the safer option. However, we chose to follow a stream on our left, returning from the second monument towards the first, to gain about 200 meters in altitude and emerge onto another dirt road, continuing left to rejoin the path we would have been on with the first option, reaching 5 Towers. The view towards the snowy Mount Olympus is exceptional.
The return is via the classic 5 Towers - Ano Milia path, which is well-marked but could use a little refreshing. At the end of the path, just outside the village on our right, is the refuge of the EOS Katerini, and on our left is the Path of the Muses; there are relevant wooden signs. Following the path, passing over 2-3 wooden bridges, after about 2.5 kilometers, we find ourselves in front of various small waterfalls.
The return is via the same beautiful path.
Organized Excursions: One-day getaways combining hiking and wine tasting in Ano Milia are organized from time to time.
