Ano Milia – Five Towers

The hiking route from Ano Milia to the Pente Pyrgoi peak (1,712 m) in the Pieria Mountains is one of the most beautiful and popular mountain trails in Macedonia. Ano Milia, a stunning village situated at an altitude of approximately 1,000 meters, lies just 25 km from Katerini

and serves as the ideal starting point for the ascent.

Route Details

Starting Point: The EOS Katerini mountain refuge in Ano Milia or the Church of Agia Paraskevi.

Elevation Gain: The route involves an elevation gain of approximately 660 meters (from the refuge at ~1,022 m to the peak at 1,712 m).

Nature & Environment: The trail winds through a dense and impressive beech and pine forest, offering abundant shade and unique glimpses of wild nature.

Trail Highlights: Various route options connect with the famous Path of Love and the Path of the Muses, as well as the memorial for the Yakovlev plane crash.

What You Will Find at the Summit

Upon reaching the Five Towers, the landscape shifts, becoming rockier and more alpine in character. The peak derives its name from distinctive rock formations that resemble towers. From this vantage point, the view of Mount Olympus, the Thermaic Gulf, and the surrounding peaks of the Pieria Mountains is truly breathtaking.
